Dismal England thrashed by Germany

England 1 - Germany 4
England crashed out of South Africa 2010 by a clinical display of counter attacking by Germany.
The Germans cruised to a 2-nil lead after some desperately bad English defending. A goal by Upson restored some hope that England might be able to slug out a result against a quicker and more organised opposition, before the worst refereeing blunder of the tournament denied England an unlikely comeback.
As Lampard’s shot bounced down off the cross bar the whole stadium expected the goal to be given, but remarkably, despite the ball crossing the line by 2-3 feet, play continued and the German team cleared.
While no one can deny Germany deserved to win the game, the possibility of an England comeback was squashed, and in the 2nd half they were picked off by two classy German breaks to leave the score 4-1.
Shocking refereeing decision. Appalling England performance from goalkeeper to strikers.
England fans will not have to suffer any longer in the tournament.
