...only if Sven can get them playing together
England head coach Sven Goran Eriksson believes he could have the world’s best midfield at his disposal for the World Cup this summer.
The Swede is a huge admirer of the talents of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham, and hopes all three will be in fine fettle for the start of the tournament.

While all Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham are all capable of being world-class players and are each able to win big games, Eriksson has yet to manage to get them all playing well in the same team. Lampard and Gerrard are both best utilised as attacking midfielders, and while Gerrard could play the holding role, there are arguably better English midfielders able to do that.
Beckham is a quality player but has not reproduced the form that he had a couple of years ago. The introduction of Shaun Wright-Phillips in the recent friendly against Uruguay brightened up England’s attack with his pace.
The best midfielder England have at the moment was not mentioned by Eriksson - Joe Cole.

There will always be new players, hungry to be the star player, but Beckham is a proven player, I hope to see England take the title this year.
