New coach's honeymoon period over
“If there has been a lower ebb in the tide of English football, please remind me.
“All this talk about the so-called Golden Generation and how we could have won the last World Cup has been exposed for the bunkum it long was.” - Steven Howard, The Sun
“England looked like a side waiting to be beaten.” - Oliver Holt, The Mirror
“England’s world-class players, if they indeed exist, were in hiding again.” - James Lawton, Independent
“Lost in a system they did not seem to believe in.” - Alan Hansen, The Telegraph
“England coach McClaren must shoulder all the blame on a night of complete humiliation for English football.
“This was McClaren’s first big test and he failed miserably. Wrong team, wrong tactics, worng motivation - wrong manager.
“He will be lucky to still be in charge when Israel and Andorra come round next March.” - Brian Woolnough, Daily Star
and my favourite:
“If you make your own luck, England deserved the farcical bounce which led to Croatia’s second goal.” - Rob Smyth, The Guardian

“All this talk about the so-called Golden Generation and how we could have won the last World Cup”—
Which you and your ilk were spouting. Build em up to knock em down. Real people don’t talk like that, no one I spoke to was getting caried away, NOT one !!
England are dysfunctional and a big part of that has to do with the unreasonable expectations heaped upon them.
And they talk about systems yet again, it’s not the system it’s the same old problems we’ve seen for 20 years plus.
