Liverpool fans shame at Smith chants

Section of the fans spoil efforts of the majority
It was a great shame to read reports of Liverpool fans singing gleefully about Smith’s injury at Anfield yesterday.
Anfield is one of a few grounds around the world where the fans are able to truly affect a result, through the many glorious European nights witnessed there, to Sunday’s heckling of Gary Neville who looked increasingly rattled during the first half.
Many Liverpool fans are incredible football fans. I’ve met Liverpool fans on terraces of lower league clubs because they were in town and wanted to watch a game, and you frequently see Kop supporters applauding opposition team’s goals.
Liverpool and Manchester Utd’s rivalry is huge; probably bigger than against their derby rivals Everton and Manchester City. The awful chanting that Alan Smith received, though, was shameful, and cannot be defended.

Look, we thought he was injured by the sheer power of John Arne Riise’s free kick. That’s how it looked from directly behind. It actually seemed quite funny at the time but we obviously didn’t know his leg was actualy broken.
